Ace Bondage and the Briefcases

Ace Bondage & the Briefcases

In the 1980s, the warring factions of disco and punk had reduced pop music to a toxic quagmire of stultifying noise. Out of the primordial slime emerged Ace Bondage & the Briefcases, the pioneers of Punk-Yuppie Rock. The music scene had laid bare the artistic chasm that divided our nation…until The Bad Boys of Yup stepped into the yawning breach with their nation unifying sound.

Since the demise of Ace Bondage in a plane crash near Ayers Rock in 1991, the Briefcase Sound has been lost to two generations of evolving rockers. Need I ask the last time you saw anyone doing the 80s dance craze, The Briefcase Bop? And is it that surprising that the mainstream media never mentioned in 2023 that Barbie & Ken the movie came out exactly 35 years after Barbie & Ken the love ballad that tore at the heartstrings of teenage America. These Internet-raised youngsters have been awash in misinformation and alternative facts. Fortunately, at a recent archaeological dig in Australia, rock historians discovered a treasure trove of Ace Bondage & the Briefcases videos and music in a subterranean vault 200 feet beneath the dessert.

Sadly, the Briefcases were too early for autotune. But, with this archive unearthed, we expect in the fall of 2024 to be able to introduce the dulcet tones of Ace Bondage to a new generation who is seeking an honest journey back in time to experience the epicenter of rock’ n roll in the 1980s. Stay tuned.
